This Saturday at Rosehill Racecourse a line-up of proven and progressive three-year-olds take to the track in the Stan Fox Stakes 2017, betting tips and updated odds on the clash found below. 

It is a diminutive but classy field left to do battle in the Group 2 $200,000 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) with seven runners after the withdrawal of the Lindsay Park-trained Eshtiraak (4).  

Leading the updated Stan Fox Stakes odds online through Ladbrokes.com.au at $2.70 is the Bjorn Baker-trained blue-blood colt Addictive Nature.  

Tim Clark retains the ride on the expensive yearling who made it two wins from three starts first-up at Rosehill on August 26 in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m).  

Addictive Nature is now tipped to continue his winning ways with success on Saturday, but needs to be improving going up in distance after the narrow victory last start.  

The big Stan Fox Stakes betting market mover backed in from $4.60 to $4 is the Gerald Ryan-trained Snitzel colt Trapeze Artist.  

Sixth in the Golden Slipper and third to Invader in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) in the autumn, this galloper retuned on August 19 running under three lengths back sixth in the Group 3 Up & Coming Stakes (1300m). 

He looks the improver out of that race following a winning Rosehill trial on September 4 and will get things his way from the inside alley with Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle.  

A further three runners are also under $10 making the Stan Fox Stakes a tough one for the punters this weekend.  

So, will the favourite salute or is there value to be found tipping a win from the likes of returning Champagne Stakes winner The Mission ($5.50) or the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Gold Standard ($4.40) coming off a second in the Up & Coming Stakes?  

1st

#7 Gold Standard ($4.40)

Waterhouse is a master trainer of three-year-olds and think the Tulloch Lodge team have a genuine spring hopeful in this untapped Sebring colt. He’s yet to finish worse than second in three career starts, including an impressive Canterbury success over 1250m on August 9. Followed that with the narrow second in the Up & Coming and will only improve again three runs in and fit. The distance looks like it will suit and gets the run of the race from barrier two with a big finish in store.

#1 The Mission ($5.50)

Good odds on offer for Paul Perry’s Choisir colt whose last start produced the big 2.3 length Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) win in the wet at Randwick in mid-April. The 1500m first-up is a non-issue and he’s better proven at the distance than many of his rivals. Has had two lead-up trials including a runaway five length 1200m heat win at Newcastle on August 16. Gets in well at set weights, good alley and if he shows up fresh is a big chance.

#2 Trapeze Artist ($4)

Money coming for Ryan’s Black Opal Stakes winner. He wasn’t that far beaten first-up in the Up & Coming, which could prove the form race to follow into the Stan Fox. Was doing his best work late, has the chance to finish off well getting up to 1500m and has won a subsequent Rosehill trial against the older horses beating In Her Time (2nd) and Comin’ Through (3rd). Group 1 placegetter ready to near peak form.
