Omei Sword’s recent racing career has been plagued by injury, but the classy mare has continued to firm in 2017 Show County Quality betting markets and is set to start a clear favourite in the Group 3 race at Randwick on Saturday.
Omei Sword has only made seven appearances at the races since making her debut in February last year, but has more than stamped herself as a filly to follow in posting two dominant wins and a further three minors.
Resuming last spring for a dominant win in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m), the High Chaparral mare placed second behind Astern in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m), but was forced back into the paddock with injury after the race.
Running second behind La Bella Diosa in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) first-up this year, Omei Sword was last seen finishing seventh in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) and was handed a mandatory three month ban after bleeding.
Omei Sword has trialled well in the lead-up to this race and if she brings her best form, will be extremely difficult to beat in the Show County Quality.
Spectroscope is yet to herald much interest in Show County Quality betting markets, but the talented import is a proven first-up performer, is drawn ideally and represents terrific value at current $5.50 odds.
Debuting for Godolphin in March with a classy win in the Schweppes BM89 (1350m), Spectroscope made an ideal transition to black type company when a comfortable winner of the Group 3 Doncaster Prelude (1500m) a fortnight later.
While failing to fire in two subsequent starts, the Medaglia D’oro entire has trialled well in the lead-up to this race and has the notable advantage of Hugh Bowman in the saddle for his run in the Show County Quality.
Daysee Doom, Deploy and Invader have all been left alone in Show County Quality betting markets so far, but the three horses remain tied on the third line at generous $7.50 quotes.
Daysee Doom was a strong and consistent performer through her recent Autumn Carnival campaign and was last seen flying home to win the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at Scone on May 13th.
Deploy has been freshened-up since finishing a smart Brisbane Winter Carnival campaign and is sure to harbour residual fitness from his smart win in the Group 2 Moreton Cup (1200m) and fourth-place in the Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes (1200m) most recently on June 24th.
Invader broke through for a maiden win at the highest level during the Autumn Carnival and arguably offers punters the best value for money in Show County Quality betting markets.
The Snitzel colt ran second in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) on March 4th and while unlucky not to gain a start in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), responded with a dominant performance and win in the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ (1400m).
Last seen finishing second in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) on April 15th, Invader has been kept quite through two trials, but has conditions to suit in the Show County Quality.
