Mel Eggleston’s Gold Coast-trained filly All Over Bosanova turned the tables on her last start conqueror enjoying a firmer track and all the luck in the first at Doomben to defeat Tactical Advantage in the Daybreak Lover 2017.

The two best in betting for this season’s $125,000 Listed Daybreak Lover Stakes (1200m) met at the track and distance on May 20 when the James Cummings-trained Bel Esprit gelding Tactical Advantage posted a narrow neck win on the Heavy (9) course.
Ridden by Glyn Schofield today for the rematch on Stradbroke Handicap Day, the gelding had zero luck getting caught-up for a run down the home straight and failed to reel in the filly.
A three-year-old daughter of Court Command, All Over Bosanova was able to lead her rivals all the way to the line in a brave win – her fifth from eight career starts.
“It’s a great feeling,” winning hoop Luke Rolls said post-race.
“She’s all hear this little filly. She’s only tiny and all her runs this time in have been super.
“She hasn’t had much luck, but she got all the luck in the world today.”
In third rounding out a tight Daybreak Lover trifecta was Stuart Kendrick’s consistent Star Witness filly Rare Occurrence who came off the big run for the same result behind Burning Passion at Eagle Farm a fortnight back.
Backed into late favouritism by the punters, All Over Bosanova was away brilliant from barrier three with regular rider Rolls continuing his association with the progressive young filly.
She set the pace throughout as Rare Occurrence sat second after settling ahead of Chalk doing it tough in third and Tactical Advantage, who strode up from the outside barrier to be posted in fourth.
It was an all-the-way win by All Over Bosanova who reversed the placings of her lead-up run despite Tactical Advantage doing his best in a flashing second.
The logical next-up target for All Over Bosanova this Queensland Winter Racing Carnival is a trip up to Caloundra on July 1 for the $125,000 Group 3 Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m).
Last year’s Daybreak Lover Stakes winner was Sold For Song (2016) who backed-up in the Sunshine Coast Guineas over a mile finishing a close third behind Tivaci.
