Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2017 Tips: Winx Wins by Six Lengths

There is no doubt that Winx will win her 17th on the trot this Saturday at Royal Randwick on The Championships Day 2, but the 2017 Queen Elizabeth Stakes tips on how many lengths she will beat the field by and who will run in behind her can be found below.

Winx

Eight brave gallopers take on Chris Waller’s superlative mare in the $4 million Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) where – at weight-for-age at her favourite track – Winx looks a shoo-in to post her 17th straight win and become a 12-time Group 1 winner.

In the small Queen Elizabeth Stakes field, running last will still see connections take out a $30,000 cheque so there is some consolation in being thrashed by the world’s best.

Last start Winx charged home by over seven lengths on a Heavy (10) Rosehill track winning the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) for the second time.

Jockey Hugh Bowman, who earlier this week declared Winx knows she is the Queen of Australian Racing, admitted he actually eased the daughter of Street Cry in the closing stages of that lead-up.

The fact that she can do something so utterly impressive on a track trainer Waller believes she isn’t actually all that comfortable on is credit to the freakish ability of Winx.

Her Queen Elizabeth Stakes odds of $1.09 at Ladbrokes.com.au reflect just how good a thing the bookies are tipping her to be on Saturday, but it is still better than bank interest.

Randwick is her preferred track, she handles the wet and there looks to be nothing in this field that will come within six lengths of her when she makes history becoming the second highest earner in the all-time prize money department only to Makybe Diva.

So who will round out the Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2017 Trifecta behind Winx?

Our 2017 Queen Elizabeth Stakes Tip is for Winx to Beat Hartnell by 6 lengths with Happy Clapper in third

1st

#9 Winx ($1.09)

Lock it in. The queen will reign supreme and even though her Queen Elizabeth price is prohibitive, she could start at $1.01 and there would still be punters putting the house on her. This has been her autumn Grand Final all along and she’ll be peaking for it. She put the writing on the wall with the runaway win in the wet at Rosehill, returning to Randwick and 2000m and only bad luck would see her beat.

2nd

#1 Hartnell ($11)

There’s no value in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes betting markets in 2017. Harntell is the next best fancied and he’ll be second past the post. He had a little hiccup earlier, but looked back to his best when runner-up in the Ranvet Stakes. The Godolphin stable have him as good as they can. That’s not good enough to beat Winx as he prepares for a seventh loss to the mighty mare, but he can round on the quinella and take out the $760,000 second prize.

3rd

#3 Happy Clapper ($18)

Pat Webster’s was third to Lucia Valentina in the race 12 months ago on the back of a Doncaster Mile second and he brings the exact form line into the event this autumn. Drawn well, in flying form, ultra-consistent and is firming.
