Global Glamour Tops Arrowfield 3YO Sprint 2017 Betting

The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained filly Global Glamour is tipped to return to winning form when she takes on the boys as favourite in 2017 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint betting this Saturday in Sydney.

There are a dozen three-year-old sprinters in the mix for this weekend’s $600,000 Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) – formerly the Royal Sovereign Stakes – that takes place at Royal Randwick as part of Day 2 of ‘The Championships’.

Drawn in gate nine with Kerrin McEvoy to ride is dual Group 1 winner Global Glamour, the Star Witness filly having taking out the interstate Flight Stakes – Thousand Guineas double over a mile last season.

She has enjoyed just the one win since taking out the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) over Foxplay at Randwick in mid-February.

Her latest run against the older mares produced a disappointing eleventh to Heavens Above in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) where Global Glamour did it tough from barrier 16 of 19.

This weekend she will enjoy returning to a field of fellow three-year-olds and has been brought on fitness wise for the Arrowfield 3YO Sprint with a three length winning Rosehill trial over 1030m on March 30.

Early money is coming in the Arrowfield 3YO Sprint odds at Ladbrokes.com.au on the favourite filly with Global Glamour already firming in from $4 to $3.70.

Occupying the second line of Arrowfield Sprint betting in 2017 at $5.50 is Glenall in gate six with Tim Clark booked to ride the locally-trained Redoute’s Choice colt.

Clark was replaced in the saddle by Andrew Adkins who could get down to the 50kg light weight on Les Bridge’s youngster last time out when Glenall was tested in the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m).

He more than held his own in his first Group test against an open age field of sprinters running fourth to fellow three-year-old Russian Revolution on a Heavy (10) track on Golden Slipper Day.

Prior to The Galaxy Glenall posted back-to-back seconds at Randwick, Saturday marking his first run over the increased distance of 1200m.

Following closely in the markets are the super-consistent Tactical Advantage ($7.50) drawn well in gate four and Spright ($7.50) out wider in barrier ten.

James Cummings’ Bel Esprit gelding Tactical Advantage enjoyed a four straight winning streak during the summer before a last start third to the Lindsay Park-trained Derryn – a $9 shot on Saturday – in the Listed Darby Munro (1200m) at Rosehill on a Heavy track.

He has trialled nicely since at Randwick where he returns on Saturday after his third win from as many starts at the track and should get a lovely run from the gate with Hugh Bowman of Winx fame in the saddle.

Spright meanwhile has Corey Brown aboard in the Arrowfield, the Garry Frazer-trained Hinchinbrook filly looking to improve on a last start eighth behind the Kiwi La Bella Diosa in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) in late February.

She has been freshened-up since and won a Hawkesbury trial over 1000m in the meantime as she chases her first win since taking out a Group 3 sprint at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
