Manfred Stakes Day is set to give us a real insight into some of the major races during the 2017 Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival and we will be keeping you up to date with all the results all afternoon long.

The Manfred Stakes and the Chairman’s Stakes are the two standouts, but there is plenty of interest in every race this afternoon and we are excited for a big day of racing.

Race 9 (5:20pm) – Darren Gauci Farewell Handicap Results

There was no fairytale for Darren Gauci as Damien Oliver steered Duke Of Brunswick to victory in the final race at Caulfield.

Gauci settled his mount Longeron right on the speed in the early stages and gave him every possible chance, but Duke Of Brunswick was always going to be difficult to beat.

Duke Of Brunswick cruised to the lead when asked for an extra effort by Oliver and fought off Smart Dart to claim victory.

Race 8 (4:45pm) – Listed W.J. Adams Stakes Results

Thermal Current upstaged last year’s winner Shakespearean Lass and clear favourite Faatinah to claim victory in the 2017 W.J. Adams Stakes.

Jockey Damian Lane was extremely patient on Thermal Current, but the gap came at the 200 metre mark and the six-year-old built his momentum to hit the front in the shadows of the post.

Faatinah was one of the first horses beaten and a number of punters were left scratching their heads at the unusual ride of Regan Bayliss.

Race 7 (4:05pm) – Group 3 Ladbrokes Manfred Stakes Results

Legless Veuve will head towards the 2017 Australian Guineas after she claimed a strong victory in the Ladbrokes Manfred Stakes at Caulfield this afternoon.

Mark Zahra settled Legless Veuve just behind the leader Into Orbit in the run and the only filly in the field had no problems finishing over the top of her rival when she was asked for an extra effort.

Trainer Stuart Webb has a very big opinion of the talented filly and he confirmed after the race that she will head to the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington in a month.

Race 6 (3:25pm) – John Moule Handicap Preview Results

Glenrowan Prince delivered young trainer Kym Hann a maiden metropolitan race win with an impressive victory in the John Moule Handicap.

Hann went into the race fairly confident that Glenrowan Prince would come away with the win and the Bushranger gelding had the race sewn up a long way from time.

Hann said that he has big plans for Glenrowan Prince and he believes that his stable star could end up in a race like the Mildura Cup.

Race 5 (2:50pm) – Group 3 Ladbrokes Chairman’s Stakes Results

Formality cemented herself as a leading contender for the 2017 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes with a fighting in the Ladbrokes Chairman’s Stakes at Caulfield this afternoon.

Spoils gave Formality plenty of trouble in the race and she was unable to settle in front, but Formality was able to fight off her rival in the straight and ran away from her rivals to record a strong victory.

Co-trainer Tom Dabernig confirmed that Formality will head straight to the 2017 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes and he believes that the talented filly deserves to be considered one of the leading contenders.

Race 4 (2:15pm) – Inglis Premier Results

Jukebox justified his status as a clear favourite to record a very comfortable win in the 2017 Inglis Premier at Caulfield this afternoon.

Craig Williams settled Jukebox in the box-seat in the early stages of the Inglis Premier and he towed himself into the race to find the lead at the top of the straight.

Jukebox quickened without really being asked for an effort by Williams and he proved far too classy for his opposition in the concluding stages of the race.

Race 3 (1:40pm) – Mal Seccull Handicap Results

Chance The Dance led from start to finish to record a fighting victory in the 2017 Mal Seccull Handicap at Caulfield this afternoon.

It was a battle between Chance The Dance and Big Memory in the final stages and it always looked like Big Memory would finish the better, but Chance The Dance toughed it out bravely to record a narrow victory.

The win of Chance The Dance delivered the Macedon Lodge team of Robert Hickmott and Lloyd Williams a winning double following the win of Goodwill in the Robert Hunter Handicap.

Race 2 (1:05pm) – Robert Hunter Handicap Results

Darren Gauci enjoyed a fairytale victory on his final day of riding as Goodwill scored a tough victory in the Robert Hunter Handicap this afternoon.

Goodwill did not have a great deal of luck in what was a slowly-run race and he was under heavy riding a long way from home, but he kept on finding and held off his rivals in the final stages of the race.

Gauci was cheered into the winning stall by his fellow jockeys and he said after the race that Goodwill gave him the feel of a Melbourne Cup contender.

Race 1 (12:30pm) – Ian Miller Handicap Results

It had been an extremely long time between wins for Hot Ruby, but she returned to winning form in the Ian Miller Handicap at Caulfield this afternoon with a very professional performance.

Craig Williams settled Hot Ruby just behind the speed in the early stages of the race and she effortlessly pulled herself into the race before proving far too strong in the concluding stages.

Tessabelle toughed it out after a tricky run in passage to finish second from Gingie in third.
