One of the key Brisbane Summer Sprint Series events, Saturday’s $200,000 Group 3 George Moore Stakes (1200m) has attracted 17 nominees including the Desleigh Forster-trained Too Good To Refuse.
A four-year-old stallion by Rothesay, the local galloper has had two runs this time in for two top two efforts including his Listed Keith Noud Quality (1200m) win at the track on November 19.
He gets two weeks between runs and looks a big chance to go back-to-back this weekend.
The other best out of the Keith Noud Quality are the Brian Smith-trained runner-up Sony Legend, the Tony Gollan-trained third placed four-year-old in the traditional lead-up Most Important and Tony Sears’ placegetter Hard Stride out to close the gap on his last start conqueror.
Also coming off a last start Eagle Farm win is the Matthew Dunn-trained Fastnet Rock four-year-old Perfect Dare from Murwillumbah.
The gelding saluted over 1200m at the course a fortnight back in an easier class race and steps up to Black-Type company if accepted for the first time since a failed 10th to Tivaci at the Sunshine Coast in the Group 3 Guineas over a mile back in the winter.
One of the headline George Moore Stakes entries is the Group 1 winning mare Miss Cover Girl.
Kelly Schweida’s smart five-year-old daughter of Monashee Mountain hasn’t raced since taking out the Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm back on June 25.
Schweida opted not to run over the spring but is confident she’s ready for a big first-up run on Saturday looking to add to her smart record of three wins, a second and two thirds from six previous starts when fresh.
Plenty of in-form Sydney raiders are also nominated for the George Moore Stakes looking to steal the show from the locals including the Gerald Ryan-trained Bachman.
All American five-year-old Bachman raced first-up at Randwick on November 1 when finishing a close second to Kaepernick over 1100m and will enjoy the extra distance on Saturday.
Rosehill horseman Ryan has also entered for Inz’N’Out who hasn’t won a race since August of 2015.
Another smart Sydney-trained galloper in the mix is Joe Pride’s Denman five-year-old Kuro coming off back-to-back seconds including under the big weight (59.5kg) at his local track on November 19.
Other notable nominees include the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained seven-year-old That’s A Good Idea and the Kelso Wood-trained Into The Red who has a strong record at the track (6-2-2-0).
