Due to jump at 3:00pm (AEST) as Randwick Race 6, a final field of nine run in this season’s edition of the $125,000 Group 3 Bob Ingham Show County Quality (1200m).

Betting markets for the handicap clash at Ladbrokes.com.au are a wide open affair with half the feed at single-figures for the win.

Current favourite in Show County Quality odds paying $4.40 is Le Romain, Kris Lees’ returning Randwick Guineas winner drawn the rails for his four-year-old debut.

The Hard Spun gelding has won three of his eight career runs including the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) over the Randwick mile in March.

He is out to atone for a seventh in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) to Tarzino later that month, but first-up over a distance he has a strong record over (4-1-2-1) at his preferred track (3-2-1-0) he is tipped to fire first-up.

The other best in Show County Quality betting are the John O’Shea-trained Vashka ($4.80) returning off a lengthy spell, last start Missile Stakes winning mare Tycoon Tara ($5) for Peter & Paul Snowden, Boss Lane ($6) who ran second in the race last year and Missile Stakes third placegetter Mount Nebo ($6) who the punters have been keen to get behind early.

So who should you back and who should you sack in a race that could be anyone’s for the taking this Sydney Spring Racing Carnival?

Our 2016 Show County Quality Trifecta Tip is #3 Vashka from #6 Boss Lane and #5 Le Romain

1st

#3 Vashka ($4.80)

Vashka is one of three 58.5kg top weight, but even under the kilos this Godolphin-raced Exceed And Excel six-year-old is a big chance to kick off where he left off last spring. He won back-to-back Group races including the Group 3 Moonga Stakes (1400m) on Caulfield Cup Day, but hasn’t raced since. He showed he had come through the extended let-off well however with two very nice trials including a third to Boss Lane at Randwick on August 9.

2nd

#6 Boss Lane ($6)

Was second past the post to Decision Time 12 months ago and looks decent value to finish in the money again. Ron Quinton’s Dubawi gelding runs well fresh and has plenty of good form over the track and at the distance. His latest start was a 12th as a 101/1 roughie, but that was in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) behind superstar Chautauqua where he was simply outclassed. This is more his type of company and the recent trial win at Randwick was strong.

3rd

#5 Le Romain ($4.40)

Very consistent as a three-year-old, Le Romain is back as a four-year-old this time in and has twice place in Sydney trials leading up to his return. He has won two-from-three at the track and never finished worse than second here, where he won the Randwick Guineas. Saturday’s distance first-up looks spot on, he gets the rails run from barrier one and will be right in the finish.
