Fourteen three-year-olds are poised to line up for the 2016 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) this weekend following the release of a talented list of nominations for the race on Monday morning.
Handfast has returned to racing in slick form this time and is the sole representative for Godolphin in 2016 Hawkesbury Guineas nominations.
Debuting to racing during the 2015 edition of the Brisbane Winter Carnival, Handfast ran on for second in the Listed Bruce McLachlan Memorial Classic (1200m) in only his second start before again finishing second behind Sagaronne in the Listed The Phoenix (1350m) on May 30th.
Resuming this time for success in the Beamont’s A Beauty Maiden (1250m), the Street Cry gelding repeated the dose in the Vinery Stud BM72 (1400m) before a luckless run for fourth in the ATC @ Gosford BM78 (1600m) on March 17th.
Having made a successful transition to black type company with success in the Listed South Pacific Classic (1400m) on April 9th, Handfast will be tough to beat in the 2016 Hawkesbury Guineas.
Spill The Beans has posted a couple of good results this time and is a leading chance of success in the 2016 Hawkesbury Guineas.
Posting three wins and two minors through eight career starts so far, Spill The Beans capped a strong debut year with a credible third in the Flemington Fling (1000m) on Melbourne Cup Day.
Producing undoubtedly a career-best performance to beat a classy field to the line in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1300m) first-up this time, the Snitzel colt progressed to fourth in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) before a luckless run for eighth in the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) on Day 2 of The Championships.
Chris Waller is set to be offered a good chance of success on Saturday after including Mackintosh in 2016 Hawkesbury Guineas nominations.
Mackintosh began his career abroad in New Zealand, and has fast announced himself to the racing community via a number of good performances.
Debuting for success in the Te Aroha Movers Maiden (1400m) in late November, Mackintosh progressed to fourth in the Rich Hill Stud 3.y.o Plate (1400m) before ending his tenure across the ditch with a comfortable win in the Brinks 3.y.o Plate (1500m).
While failing to figure in the late stages of the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m), the Pins gelding will relish a step back in class and distance in the 2016 Hawkesbury Guineas.
The 2016 Hawkesbury Guineas field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
