2015 Tasmanian Newmarket Handicap Tips

Consistent sprinter Geegees Doublejay has returned to racing in typically slick form this time and remains clear $2.90 favourite in 2015 Tasmanian Newmarket Handicap betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Admiral ($3.80) and Hellova Street ($4.40).

Will Geegees Doublejay justify favouritism and win the 2015 Tasmanian Newmarket Handicap or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?

1st

Admiral ($3.80)

Admiral has more than stamped himself as one of Tasmania’s standout racehorses, has posted a number of impressive black type results this year and could very well receive the run of the race in the Newmarket Handicap from barrier 7. Securing an impressive nine wins and three minors through only thirteen career starts so far, the Mossman gelding returned to racing in his most recent campaign for second in the McCrimmon Insurance Cup (1200m); progressing to success in a three-year-old cup race over 1400m before making a successful transition to black type racing in taking out the Listed Tasmanian Guineas (1600m). Running second in the Listed Thomas Lyons Stakes (1400m) on February 9th, Admiral arguably produced a career-best effort to date to beat the likes of The Cleaner to the line in the Listed George Adams Plate (1600m) before running an impressive fifth in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) on March 7th.

2nd

Geegees Doublejay ($2.90)

Geegees Doublejay has incredibly finished outside the first three only once in twenty career starts and is a leading chance in the 2015 Tasmanian Newmarket Handicap. Capping an impressive autumn campaign with five-consecutive race wins, Geegees Doublejay returned this time for third in the Tasmanian Goodwood Handicap (1000m) on Octo0ber 17th. Having returned to winning form in the Members Quality (1100m) at Launceston on November 4th, the Wordsmith gelding should have no issues carrying a very-manageable 55kgs to the line in the Newmarket Handicap.

3rd

Streetwise Savoire ($9)

Streetwise Savoire has form around all the leading contenders for the 2015 Tasmanian Newmarket Handicap, is drawn ideally in barrier 4 and arguably offers punters the best value for money in betting markets at current odds. Winning the Thomas Lyons Stakes and finishing third in the George Adams Plate most notably in autumn, the Savoire Vivre gelding returned this time for a close second in the Members Quality and will have taken plenty of benefit from the run.
