Due to run as Flemington Race 8 at 4:45pm (AEST), this year’s $200,000 Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) field will run at its 16-starter capacity with first emergency Sardaaj ($11) getting a run after the early scratching of Lee & Anthony Freedman’s Cockram Stakes runner-up Hazard.
Let’s Elope Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au is firmly led by the rails-drawn Noble Protector ($3.60) who Craig Williams rides from the inside alley first-up, Robert Smerdon’s Haafhd six-year-old last seen running third to Amanpour in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) at Randwick during April’s The Championships in Sydney.
The next best fancied in the latest Let’s Elope Stakes odds are then the Gai Waterhouse-trained Northern Meteor five-year-old Group 1 winner Cosmic Endeavour ($7) and four-year-old Cockram Stakes third placed Vezalay ($8.50).
Will one of the three single figure hopes take out the Let’s Elope Stakes this year or is there value to be found further down the markets from the likes of Cockram Stakes winner Madam Gangster ($10) or market mover Platinum Rocker ($17 into $12).

#8 Madam Gangster ($10)
She beat a number of these home last start in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Memsie Stakes Day but is at juicy double figures here, which is hard to go past. That was her fourth win from five starts and she comes into Saturday’s race having won two from three at Flemington, most recently taking out the Group 3 Tressady Stakes (1400m) in March. She is also a gun over the 1400m with four wins from six starts over the distance she’s back up to on Saturday and with a nice run from gate six she’s a winning chance again for Seymour’s Lee & Shannon Hope.
2nd
#1 Cosmic Endeavour ($7)
Kerrin McEvoy rides Waterhouse’s dual Group 1 winner who is second-up after a seventh in the Cockram in her resuming run. She’s got class and can bounce back here with the right run from barrier five in her maiden Flemington assignment. The set weights plus penalties conditions see her get in on 59kg, which is actually pretty good for a mare that’s twice won at elite level in a Group 2. From the gate with the weight at her preferred distance (4-3-1-0) she’s a definite chance to return to winning form.

#9 Platinum Rocker ($12)
Money is coming for another runner from the Hopes, the veteran eight-year-old still lightly raced for her age having had just 23 starts to date. She has run second in her two most recent runs both at Caulfield after her transfer from WA, the latest of which was to Setinum in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) in mid-August. She had barrier 15 of 15 that day and will appreciate a better drawn in seven this weekend with Blake Shinn riding her over a distance she has won five from 12 over and finished third at a further three times.
