Peter and Paul Snowden will saddle three runners in Saturday’s featured Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) on the Gold Coast, and the former has underlined classy filly Peggy Jean as the stable’s leading chance for success.

Peggy Jean began her racing career under the guidance of Gerald Ryan and announced her arrival over a standout two-year-old campaign through the 2015 autumn; highlighted by success in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) during The Championships.
Having been transferred to the care of the Snowdens prior to the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival, the daughter of Myboycharlie was luckless when seventh in the Listed Queensland Day (1200m) first-up on May 30th but was commendable in her efforts to finish only a length and a half off the pace.
Confident she has taken priceless condition from the competitive hit-out, Peter Snowden conceded the three-year-old will need luck in running from wide barrier 17 but is confident she is in the right form for a competitive performance.
“I think she’s probably had the right preparation and I probably favour her most of our three,” Snowden told Racing Ahead.
“She’s second-up, she’s done really well since that run and her coat’s come right on since then.
“Her work on Tuesday was best in the morning so she’s certainly peaking at the right time.
“She’s drawn awkward so she’ll need a Zac Purton special but she’s going to get back anyway. There’s good speed in the race and she gets the right like in running and can handle soft ground so a few things going for her but she does need that luck in running.”
Yet to be confirmed for a specific point of call following the 2015 Tattersall’s Tiara, Snowden said the results of Saturday’s feature will likely decide whether or not she will be retired into a career as a broodmare.
“I think this race will probably answer a lot of questions,” he said.
“There’s a possibility she will race on but it will all be determined by what she does on Saturday.”
Posting two wins and a further three minors through her 13 career starts so far, Peggy Jean has been charged with carrying a race-low 55.5kgs in the Tattersall’s Tiara.
Ladbrokes.com.au is currently offering the best 2015 Tattersall’s Tiara odds, for which Peggy Jean can be taken at a particularly generous quote of $17 for success.
