A talented and capacity field has been confirmed for tonight’s Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes (1000m) at the 2015 Royal Ascot Carnival in Britain; offering punters exceptional value from a betting perspective and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
Talented Irish veteran Sole Power ($4) has returned to racing in typically slick form this time and has maintained status as sole occupant of the top line of 2015 King’s Stand Stakes betting with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Muthmir ($6.50) and Australia’s own Shamal Wind ($7).
Will Sole Power justify favouritism and win the 2015 King’s Stand Stakes, or will one of his many talented rivals find the line in the clear?
1st
Sole Power ($4)
The winner of the two most recent editions of the King’s Stand Stakes, Sole Power has quickly found devastating form over three starts this time and appears primed for success in tonight’s sprint feature at Royal Ascot. Claiming eleven race wins and a further 13 minors through 48 career starts so fa, the Kyllachy gelding clearly needed a run when beating only a handful of competitors home in the Group 3 Meydan Sprint (1000m) first-up on March 7th but responded in the best way possible when taking out the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint (1000m) a fortnight later. Having returned to Ireland for a credible sixth in the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes (1207m) on May 23rd, Sole Power is a five-time Group 1 winner and will leave from barrier 6.
2nd
Shamal Wind ($7)
A proven performer at the class and over the distance, Shamal Wind has reportedly taken very well to her time aboard over the last few weeks and should be perfectly suited to the conditions of the 2015 King’s Stand Stakes. Unlucky to finish third in four black type starts through the 2014 Spring Carnival, Shamal Wind undoubtedly stepped up a gear upon resuming this year; taking out the Listed WJ Adams Stakes (1000m) first-up before posting a comfortable and maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) on February 28th. Allocated barrier 4, Shamal Wind has been confirmed to be partnered by leading hoop Ryan Moore.
3rd
G Force ($11)
Talented four-year-old G Force was unable to make much of a competitive impact when eighth in his racing return in the Group 2 Temple Stakes (1005m) on May 23rd but is sure to have taken priceless condition from the run and offers exceptional value for money at current $11 odds for success or $2.75 to finish in the first three. Finishing outside the places only a handful of times in ten career starts, the Tamayuz entire capped an impressive maiden preparation in 2014 with success in the Group 1 Betfred Sprint Cup (1207m) and is sure to lay a great account for himself in the King’s Stand Stakes.
