Floria Favourite for Frances Tressady Stakes – Tips and Betting

A field of 10 has been confirmed for the 2014 Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on Saturday, with eight runners currently offered a decent chance of success in betting markets.

2014 Summond Stakes Champion Floria currently holds favouritism for the Frances Tressady Stakes at a quote of ($4) ahead of Power Princess ($6), Seaside ($6.50) and a four-way tie between Koonoomoo, Goldslick, Sino Eagle and Spending at $7.

Can Floria justify favouritism for the Frances Tressady Stakes, or can one of her classy opponents cause as upset?

1st

Floria

New Zealand-import Floria has performed particularly well since arriving at the Caulfield stables of Peter Moody in February last year, finishing a close second behind Skyerush in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1600m) on debut before building to a strong third behind Red Tracer and Streama in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) on June 22nd. A busy 2014 autumn preparation has been outlined for the talented Savabeel mare, with an appearance in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) in April the ultimate goal. Having drawn barrier 7, Floria should not have much trouble overcoming her nine competitors this weekend.

2nd

Power Princess

Having amassed 12 wins from 31 starts to date, Power Princess enters the 2014 Frances Tressady Stakes as undoubtedly the most experienced runner. Despite being unable to claim a victory so-far this preparation, the talented Marwina mare produced a strong final straight sprint despite being blocked for a run early when sixth behind Buffering in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) and should be able to find good position early this weekend from barrier 8.

3rd

Sino Eagle

Peter Moody-trained Sino Eagle has returned to the track in strong form this preparation, following up an unlucky second to Songspur in the Browns Sawdust & Shavings Maiden (1200m) with strong victories in the Sportingbet Best Tote Plus Stakes (1200m) and Indian Summer Handicap (1400m) on February 15th most recently. Having drawn the ideal barrier 6, Sino Eagle will be partnered by in-from jockey Vlad Duric in the Frances Tressady Stakes this weekend.
