2013 Lee-Steere Classic Betting A Race In Two

According to 2013 Lee-Steere Classic betting markets the Group 3 event is a race in two; with Sujet and Petrol Power the only horses currently available at odds shorter than $9.

Petrol Power finished over the top of Sujet in the Listed Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) at Ascot on Super Saturday and will have the opportunity to record his first victory at Group level at the same venue this weekend.

The Snitzel gelding stamped himself as a horse to watch when he scored a narrow victory in the Listed Supremacy Stakes (1100m) at Ascot on March 9 and has been in good form since returning to the races this campaign; finishing second in both the Listed Belgravia Stakes (1200m) and Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) before his Placid Ark Stakes victory.

Petrol Power was on top of Lee-Steere Classic betting markets when they were first opened earlier this week but is now out to $2.60.

Sujet was caught wide when making his racing debut in the Placid Ark Stakes and was taken to the front of the field by champion Hong Kong Jockey Douglas Whyte, battling on bravely to finish less than half a length behind Petrol Power.

Trainer Simon Miller has a very high opinion of the Vital Equine gelding and punters appear to be agreeing with the leading Western Australian trainer; with the three-year-old now into odds of $2.20 in Lee-Steere Classic betting markets.

The only other runner that is available at single figure Lee-Steere Classic odds is Shades Of Rio, with the Oratorio gelding backed into a quote of $9, who finished fifth behind Petrol Power and Sujet in the Placid Ark Stakes.

Shades Of Rio will be having his third start in as many weeks in the Lee-Steere Classic, after finishing second in the Westspeed Three-Year-Old Handicap at Ascot last weekend, and is chasing his maiden win at Listed level.

There has been very little support for the rest of the Lee-Steere Classic field; with Guardlock ($10), Moet Me ($18), Crown Lawyer ($21), Ruling Force ($34), Diveriscolor ($41) and Common Approach ($51) all available at a double figure prices.
