Today, Saturday April 27, the final major Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival meeting will take place at the iconic Royal Randwick with 2013 Sydney Cup Day – betting tips and selections for which are found below.

Group racing kicks off right away at Randwick today with Race 1 at 12:25pm (AEST), the $125,000 Group 3 Frank Packer Plate (2000m) getting things going with a nice three-year-olds’ showdown.

Of course the races all the punters will be waiting for are the four successive Group 1 features starting with the $500,000 Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at 2:15pm (AEST) where crack Kiwi colt It’s A Dundeel will jump the short favourite to post their fourth elite level victory on the trot.

The two-year-olds are up next in Race 5 with the $400,000 Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) featuring a talented line-up of promising juveniles including the clear favourite, last-start ATC Sires Produce Stakes winning filly Guelph.

The meeting’s marquee race will then jump as Randwick Race 6 at 3:35pm (AEST) with a 10-horse field facing off in the $500,000 Group 1 Schweppes Sydney Cup (3200m) following the early scratching of #8 Tremec.

Chris Waller’s JRA Plate winner from last Saturday Kelinni is the firming $2.80 favourite to take out the feature and will take some beating as a proven stayer that ran fourth in last year’s Melbourne Cup.

Kelinni also has an impressive turn of foot which they will need to finish this one off and will appreciate the drop back from 60kg last start to 57kg today.

While the Sydney Cup is the day’s official feature race the spectators will be hanging around for the last Group 1 on the card more than anything with the much anticipated clash between multiple Group 1 winners More Joyous and All Too Hard in the $400,000 Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at 4:15pm (AEST).

The veteran mare takes on the crack young colt here, experience v youth and it is Gai Waterhouse’s More Joyous who is tipped to take it out paying $2.60 in the All Aged Stakes odds.

All Too Hard won their last two at Group 1 level in Melbourne this time in but the punters are skeptical of them in Sydney and they are the $3 second pick just ahead of early market mover, the Peter Snowden-trained improver Epaulette ($4.20).

With so many superstars of the turf on display and six Group races on the eight event Randwick card today picking the winners and cleaning out the bookies can seem like daunting work.
