Highly-rated Queensland sprinter Buffering has signalled his class ahead of Saturday week’s BTC Cup, winning the rescheduled 2012 Victory Stakes by seven lengths at Eagle Farm today.

Buffering is on track for the BTC Cup after winning by seven lengths today at Eagle Farm
The race was renamed the Coca-Cola Amatil Weight for Age and lost Group 2 status following Saturday’s abandoned meeting but a mostly unchanged field lined up to take on the star sprinter.
A son of Mossman, the four-year-old got out of the gates quickly and with experienced jockey Jim Byrne on board controlled the race from start to finish.
It is a promising sign for the Robert Heathcote-trained gelding who is current bookmaker.com.au favourite to take out the Group 1 BTC Cup on May 12.
With Black Caviar headed overseas and Hay List absent due to health concerns, Buffering has an excellent chance to to add a first-ever Group 1 victory to his resume that stands at nine wins from 24 starts.
He ran third behind the star pair in the 2011 BTC Cup and again showed his class earlier this year when placing in three consecutive Group 1 events including a runner-up finish by half a head to Hay List in the Newmarket Handicap.
Queensland’s best sprinter has also been nominated for the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 and he is currently favourite to take out what is the second Group 1 sprint of the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
Desleigh Forster-trained gelding Adebisi got out of the blocks quickly and tested Buffering early but something went wrong with the four-year-old as they approached the straight and he pulled up sharply, eventually finishing 22.5 lengths behind the leader in last place.
Three-time Group 1 winner Scenic Blast tired in the straight on the heavy Eagle Farm track but finished second in what was a promising return since being spelled last November.
The future markets are now open for all the Brisbane Winter Carnival major Group 1 races so why not back an early winner at bookmaker.com.au!
