Black Caviar dominated the Newmarket Handicap on Flemington Super Saturday
2009 Melbourne Cup winner Shocking produced a great run to win the Group 1 Australian Cup. Paying $8.40 for the win with Luxbet, it was surprising that Shocking was not more heavily backed for the win. Race favourite Heart Of Dreams never threatened and did not make the placings.
There is not much to be said about the Newmarket Handicap. Black Caviar won it easy. Siting at the lead of the pack, she did not kick up into top gear until the final 300m before easing up to win by 3 lengths. Crystal Lily was a surprise second from impressive mare Beaded. The win today gives super mare Black Caviar her 10th win from 10 stars. Simply amazing.
Other notable results today include young filly Do Ra Mi winning the Group 2 Kewney Stakes while odds-on favourite Whobegotyou took out the Group 2 Blamey Stakes.
