The roughie didn’t figure at all in the pre-race betting out above $15 on the Luxbet markets.
It was a great run coming home late and showing real pace in the final 200m.
Rawiller’s mount #4 Tromso couldn’t keep his winning streak alive just edged out on the line to give trainer Chris Waller yet another placing on Chipping Norton Stakes Day.
Early in the race it was Zaratone at the top of the field locked in a fight with Platinum Skye.
When they made the turn it looked like the battle would continue but they both became unsettled and were swamped by the rest of the field.
In fact the top three finishers were all within a head and would have impressed their connections moving forward into the rest of the Autumn season.
Rounding out the top three in the race was #5 Dorf Command which was deep around the turn but found a run to really challenge the top two.
All three place getters look like they could handle a jump in distance quite comfortably so that’s something to keep in mind if you see them on a card later in the carnival.
The Luxbet trifecta paid quite nicely at $874 while the Quinella wasn’t bad either at $61.
1st #8 Atomic Force $15.10
2nd #4 Tromso $2.90
3rd #5 Dorf Command $2.10
