This morning a star-studded capacity field of three-year-olds was released for this Saturday’s 2011 Australian Guineas and the updated odds and betting markets for the Flemington showdown are now open.

Premier online bookmaker Luxbet has just reopened betting for the $750,000 Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) with #15 We Can Say It Now retaining their favouritism.

New Zealand-based filly and dual Group 1 winner We Can Say It Now leads the Australian Guineas odds at a quote of $6 through Luxbet.

Reportedly having settled in well in Melbourne since flying in, Starcraft three-year-old We Can Say It Now drew barrier 12 for the Australian Guineas on Saturday and is due to be ridden by Craig Williams.

Three other runners in the Australian Guineas 2011 field have opened at single-figure odds through Luxbet with Playing God ($7), Tony Vasil’s D’Urban Stakes runner-up Under The Eiffel ($7.50) and unbeaten Adelaide-based filly Southern Speed ($9) coming off a gallant victory in the Group 3 The Mittys Vanity (1400m) here but drawn in the far outside barrier for the Guineas.

Playing God looks We Can Say It Now’s biggest threat on Saturday after Neville Parnham’s super-consistent son of Blackfriars drew ideally in barrier three.

A multiple Group 1 winner having taking out both the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) and the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at their home track in Ascot late last year, Playing God easily won the Magic Millions Perth 3YO Trophy (1400m) first-up this season on February 12 and if they can bring their form to Melbourne will be hard to run down.

Other runners in the Australian Guineas market with the ability to cause an upset at good double figure odds for those punters that get in now at Luxbet include:

• Bullbars ($10 Luxbet) – Coming off a last-start win in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) at the track where Peter Snowden’s Elusive Quality colt jumped from barrier 15, into barrier 11 on Saturday and is a great pick with the ideal form
• Enjin Number Nine ($10 Luxbet) – Was the early Australian Guineas favourite after winning the Listed Manfred Stakes (1300m) at Sandown by a big 2 ½ lengths but drifted in the market when beaten by the same margin running fourth in the CS Hayes last start
• Spirited Eagle ($15 Luxbet) – South Australian gelding coming off a number of improved runs including their third to Bullbars in the CS Hayes last start, has drawn barrier 14 but with the favourite in 12 this could be favourable
• Startsmeup ($19 Luxbet) – Queensland galloper down from the Gold Coast was an eye-catching second just beaten on the line by Bullbars in the CS Hayes, has a bad barrier 17 to overcome but a really nice Place Bet
