Sepoy Wins 2011 Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) – Caulfield Race 4 Results

Sepoy

Sepoy outclassed the field to win the Blue Diamond Prelude for Colts & Geldings

Dominant Blue Diamond Stakes favourite Sepoy further staked his claims to win the $1 million showdown with another blistering victory today, outclassing his rivals in the $125,000 Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude Colts & Geldings (1100m) at Caulfield’s CF Orr Stakes Day.

The Elusive Quality colt kept his unbeaten record intact winning his third race from as many starts, giving trainer Peter Snowden and the punters that backed Sepoy at his short $1.40 price plenty to smile about.

One of the first out of the gates Sepoy jumped away well from barrier seven, jockey Mark Zahra taking the star two-year-old old to the front early.

Good speed from Peter Moody’s debutant Huegill saw them run up on the inside a snare the lead a neck in front of the favourite while Arctic Command settled into fourth.

As the field swung wide around the turn, Zahra unleashed Sepoy whose brilliant turn of foot saw them kick away and leave them behind at the 200m.

In a different league to all the other two-year-olds and Blue Diamond hopefuls this season, Sepoy eased on pace to win by a tidy three lengths over the Danny O’Brien-trained roughie Running Tall while Huegill held on for third.

Sepoy is set to firm even further in the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes odds at Luxbet, the colt seemingly unchallenged to make it a three-for-three clean sweep in the Blue Diamond series this year.

The $1 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes will run at Caulfield on Saturday February 26.
