Randwick Racecourse is set to host the 2011 Light Fingers Stakes Day this Saturday February 12 featuring a cracker eight-race programme including the $70,000 Trippas White Group Handicap (1400m).
Due to jump at 2:18pm (AEDST) as Randwick Race 3 on Saturday, the 2011 Trippas White Group Handicap field currently features 12 runners following the early scratching of #10 Prior Baron.
Favourite to win in the betting markets is #11 Screen sitting at a quote of around $3.50.
Drawn well in barrier four and set to carry a nice weight of 53.5kg, the Peter Snowden-trained Lonhro mare is seeking back-to-back wins at Randwick following her last start victory here over 1300m on January 29.
However, we think there is more value to be found in the Randwick Race 3 markets and have second favourite in the odds #4 Honest Lies rated special to win.
Set to start from beside the favourite in gate five, the John O’Shea-trained O’Reilly gelding Honest Lies is also coming off a last-start win when they scored an impressive 2 ½ length victory in the Slipper on Sale Handicap (1300m) at Rosehill on February 5.
For the placings we fancy Peter Snowden’s Tollemache who will have the inside running from barrier one and adds value to the Quinella with their double figure odds at Luxbet, and Fitness Fanatic.
Peter Snowden’s Viscount five-year-old Tollemache is ideally suited having won a race at this track and distance on January 28 carrying 56.5kg and they will advantage from the slight drop in weight on Saturday.
Due to be ridden by in-form jockey Jim Cassidy, Fitness Fanatic should finish close behind the top two with plenty of experience at Randwick behind them.
