Today the autumn racing action at Caulfield is top class, one of the feature events being the $100,000 Listed W.J. Adams Stakes (1000m) jumping at 4:10pm (AEDST) as Race 6 and here we have the exclusive 2011 W.J. Adams Stakes betting tips.
*This race has been abandoned due to heavy rain and flooding at Caulfield*
This year’s W.J. Adams Stakes, formerly registered as the JRA Stakes, attracted a final field of 14 gallopers with 13 still in the running after the early scratching of #11 Bocuse.
In an open market there are a number of horses getting love from the punters to win the W.J. Adams Stakes today, including current $4.80 favourite at Luxbet Crystal Lily.
Stratum filly Crystal Lily, prepared by Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra at Flemington, won the Golden Slipper as a two-year-old last year following a stunning lead up.
However in a blow for the champion Crystal Lily pulled up lame following her disappointing 11th in the Golden Rose back in August.
The W.J. Adams will be Crystal Lily’s first race since then and her long injury-enforced spell along with her horror barrier 13 draw today have us tipping an upset.
Another runner first-up for the season is Reward For Effort and we like the look of this Peter Moody champ and former Blue Diamond Stakes winner.
2011 W.J. Adams Stakes Betting Tips – Caulfield Race 6
- Races.com.au Favourite: #2 Reward For Effort – Rated Special to Win at $6.50 Luxbet
- Best Place / Exotic Bets: #5 Crystal Lily, #8 Solar Charged and #6 Winter King
Exceed And Excel four-year-old Reward For Effort scored a Group win in the Concorde Stakes in August of last year first-up, continuing on to run third to boom sprinter Hay List in the Group 3 McEwen Stakes (1000m).
At his last start Reward For Effort was a distant seventh in the Manikato Stakes, beating home just one other runner in the Group 1 feature, which saw him spelled.
After a four month break, a freshened-up Reward For Effort found the line well in a trial at Cranbourne and can win here with a bit of luck.
Crystal Lily cannot be ignored completely and will run second.
For Races.com.au readers that want to try the exciting exotic markets at Luxbet, we recommend you try the First Four adding Solar Charged and Winter King.
Solar Charged is a speedy filly starting to come into her own, a good light-weight chance with just 53kg.
In a close fourth will be stakes winner Winter King.
David Payne’s One Cool Cat four-year-old is second-up for the season after running a gallant third in the Listed Canterbury Classic (1100m) and is due to be ridden by champion hoop Michael Rodd.
