Scenic Shot has been scratched from the 2011 Australia Stakes
Scheduled as Race 6 on the Moonee Valley programme for Friday January 28th, the $200,000 Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) is the first Group race of the 2011 Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival.
Scenic Shot was set to jump from barrier five in the showdown, but connections including trainer Daniel Morton have decided not to run the Scenic gelding in the Australia Stakes.
The run would have been Scenic Shot’s 60th career start, highlights including his Group 1 victory in the 2009 Mackinnon Stakes and being crowned the 2008-09 Australian Horse of the Year.
A winner of over $2.5 million in prize money, the Ascot-based Scenic Shot has the $1 million Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington’s Super Saturday of Racing on March 12 scheduled as his main season target.
