2011 Hobart Guineas Final Field & Barrier Draw

The opening meeting of the 2011 Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival, Hobart Guineas Day, will take place this Sunday January 23 and the final field and barrier draw for the $90,000 Listed Hobart Guineas (2100m), the feature race of the day, have been released.

The 2011 Hobart Guineas final field features 13 quality runners with the early favourite Socks drawing mid-field with barrier eight.

Last start winner of the Listed Tasmanian Guineas (1600m) on January 6, Keep The Faith gelding Socks will again be ridden by Kelvin Sanderson and is sure to start at the top of the Hobart Guineas odds at Luxbet with their barrier eight draw no issue after they jumped from gate 11 for their Tasmanian Guineas win.

The other big name in the Hobart Guineas field this year is the Gai Waterhouse-trained filly Teardrop Rock, another last start winner.

The super consistent daughter of Fastnet Rock has won four of her six career starts and placed second in her other two runs, making Teardrop Rock an excellent chance in the Hobart Guineas despite her wide barrier 10 draw.

Teardrop Rock is also well-weighted for Sunday’s showdown set to carry 55kg with Craig Newitt in the mount, a drop from the 58kg she carried to victory in the Yellowglen Handicap (1800m) at Randwick on January 8.

Other notable horses in the 2011 Hobart Guineas include Tasmanian Guineas runner-up Second Dozen (barrier 12), Leon Corsten’s Danzero gelding Take The Moment (barrier nine), improving gelding Tiger Won’t Tell (barrier 13) and Victorian raider Ludka trained by Lee Freedman and drawn well in barrier three.

The 2011 Betfair Hobart Guineas is scheduled as Hobart Race 8 on Sunday, stay tuned to Races.com.au later in the week for our betting tips and the latest odds from Luxbet.

In the meantime make sure you are ready for the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival betting by joining up with Luxbet where all new customers get a free bet up to $400 when they quote the promotional code BONUSBET!
