A.J. Scahill Stakes 2010 Final Field, Barriers & Betting

The action of the Perth Summer Racing Carnival continues this Saturday December 11 at Ascot Racecourse with the running of the $125,000 Group 3 A.J. Scahill Stakes (1400m).

The 2010 A.J. Scahill Stakes final field features 10 top-class gallopers including the upset winner of the Winterbottom Stakes, Hadabeclorka.

Hadabeclorka, trained by Brent Larsson, went out as a $41 chance at Ascot on November 27 in the Group 2 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) and in a beautiful result for the bookies caused a boilover by taking out the feature.

On Saturday the nine-year-old Hurricane Sky gelding will jump from barrier two with regular rider William Pike, and you can expect their odds to be a lot shorter this time round!

The horse beaten by Hadabeclorka in the Winterbottom, King Kool Kat, is also back for revenge in the A.J. Scahill Stakes.

Ian Glading’s seven-year-old has also drawn ideally with barrier one and is likely to start one of the favourites in the A.J. Scahill Stakes betting.

Meanwhile, another horse likely to gain plenty of attention from the punters is six-year-old Danetime gelding Megatic, who ran a brilliant third in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) here last start.

Megatic is drawn in barrier four and will have Patrick Carbery and should have no issue with the 59kg all the runners carry under the set weight conditions.

Last year’s runner-up Tarzi and third placegetter Elliotto return again on Saturday, Neville Parnham’s veteran gelding Tarzi coming off two near last finishes here while stable-mate Elliotto has stronger claims having shown promise finishing second in the Carbine Club of WA Stakes two starts back.

Also amongst the A.J. Scahill Stakes field is the Adam Durrant-trained Proart resuming racing after a lengthy eight month spell and Darren Mcauliffe’s well-bred Choisir gelding Kasabian second-up for the season.

The 2010 A.J. Scahill Stakes is set to run as Race 6 at Ascot on Saturday, due to jump at 4:20pm (local WA time).

Betting markets on the Ascot features will open at Luxbet shortly so get ready for the action by opening an account with this Tabcorp-owned and trusted bookmaker today and stay tuned for our A.J. Scahill Stakes betting tips later in the week.
