A bumper day of racing is scheduled for Caulfield Racecourse this Saturday lead by the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas, and as part of the action the $125,000 Group 3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) will take place.
The 2010 Thoroughbred Club Stakes final field features 14 of the season’s best three-year-old fillies and is an excellent race to enjoy a punt on through our preferred online bookie [sportsbet].
The highest-rated fillies lining up in Saturday’s set weights showdown are Military Rose, Solar Charged and Lone Rock, the three top-weighted entries allocated 56.5kg in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes.
Classy Queensland galloper Military Rose is will start as one of the favourites in the betting, the Gillian Heinrich-trained Magic Millions Classic winner coming off a promising third to Lone Rock in the Champagne Stakes at Moonee Valley.
Military Rose is set to jump from barrier seven with Michael Rodd aboard and will again face off against Lone Rock on Saturday.
Robert Smerdon’s Fastnet Rock filly Lone Rock is seeking back-to-back wins after going out as a $20 chance in the Champagne Stakes before claiming an upset win.
Drawn ideally in gate three and paring with champion hoop Glen Boss again, Lone Rock will be at a much shorter quote this Saturday and looks well positioned to score victory.
Meanwhile, the John O’Shea-trained Solar Charged has suffered a blow drawing poorly with barrier 12, looking to return to form after fading to finish ninth in the Champagne last start.
Other notable runners in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes field include Champagne Stakes runner-up Jesse’s Girl (barrier five), Darren Weir’s consistent Foreplay filly Shiny And New (barrier eight) and the Peter Moody-trained Flokkati drawn well in barrier two and coming off a win over 1000m here a fortnight ago.
The 2010 Thoroughbred Club Stakes is set to jump at 4:40pm as Race 8 at Caulfield on Saturday.
