Hot favourite Hay List produced a dominant run to win the 2010 Manikato Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley tonight, firming as Australia’s new star sprinter.
After missing the jump jockey Glyn Schofield quickly recovered and managed to move Hay List forward and was able to take full control of the race. After fighting off a challenge from Reward For Effort in the middle of the race Hay List pulled away to win comfortably by 2 1/2 lengths from True Persuassion with Eagle Falls more than a length further back in third.
Trained by John McNair at Gosford, 5 yeard-old Hay List’s record stands at 11 wins and 1 second from 13 starts with prize money totalling almost $800,000.
