2010 Stan Fox Stakes Final Field, Barrier Draw & Betting Tips
This Saturday as part of the action of Randwick’s George Main Stakes Day, a final field of eight top three-year-olds will take to the track to contest the $175,000 Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1400m).
Betting on the 2010 Stan Fox Stakes has already opened at Sportsbet, with Masquerader installed as the odds-on favourite.
The David Payne-trained Lucky Owners colt finished second in the Run To The Rose first up this spring but finished an unlucky seventh to Toorak Toff in the Golden Rose last start.
Fresh off a three week break, Masquerader has drawn ideally with barrier one leading Sportsbet to quote him as the $2.20 favourite.
Close on Masquerader’s heels in the Stan Fox betting is Clarry Conner’s consistent gelding Decision Time.
Runner-up to Crystal Lily in the Group 1 Golden Slipper last season, Decision Time took out the Listed Heritage Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill last start, before which it placed fourth in the Golden Rose.
Other horses with claims in Saturday’s Stan Fox showdown are the Gai Waterhouse-trained Halekulani (barrier three), From The Vault (barrier two) and Top Drop (barrier eight).
Lightly raced Encosta De Lago gelding Halekulani is having just its third race start, winning on debut over 1100m at Canterbury before finishing second to Decision Time in the Heritage Stakes.
Facing their toughest test to date, Halekulani could rise and cause an upset at good odds.
The marquee race at Randwick on Saturday is the $350,000 Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) where Gai Waterhouse’s stablemates More Joyous and Theseo will face off.
Other races scheduled for the meeting worth a punt on include the Group 3 Colin Stephen Quality (2400m) where another Waterhouse runner Herculian Prince is the pronounced favourite, and the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m).
