Peter Snowden’s improving filly Divorces firmed into the equal favourite to win the 2010 Thousand Guineas after claiming her maiden win in the $175,000 Group 3 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
Domesday three-year-old Divorces ($6) was first to the line in the 2010 Thousand Guineas Prelude beating McNeil Stakes winner Sistine Angel ($9) by a long neck with the Peter Moody-trained Panipique ($13) a further one and a half lengths away in third.
Following her win, premier online bookie Sportsbet slashed Divorces’ quote into the $5 equal favourite with the Gai Waterhouse-trained More Strawberries to win the Group 1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on October 13.
It was a disappointing finish for Crown Oaks hopeful Ringa Ringa Rosie in the Prelude, the $4 favourite a well beaten 11th.
Divorces has started seven times for three placings and now one win earning $173,650 in prize money.
