2010 Hollindale Stakes Preview – Road To Rock the Favourite

This Saturday the second meeting of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival, Hollindale Stakes Day, is set to take place at the scenic Gold Coast Racecourse.

The major drawcard of the day is the $300,000 Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) where 14 weight-for-age champions are ready to fight it out and get a prestigious Group victory early in the carnival.

Sure to start as one of the hot favourites is the last start winner of the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m), Road To Rock. The Anthony Cummings-trained son of Encosta De Lago has drawn well with barrier three and is due to be ridden by in-form hoop Stathi Katsidis.

Another crowd favourite will be last year’s winner Fulmonti aiming for back-to-back Hollindale Stakes success.

Other 2010 Hollindale Stakes runners include veteran eight-year-old Sir Slick (barrier 12) having his 120th race start, Gai Waterhouse’s consistent Choisir mare Gold Water (barrier nine) and the Grahame Begg-trained Pagan Princess (barrier 10).

The other feature race at the meeting is the $125,000 Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) featuring the Chris Waller-trained Stryker, Phelan Ready and Bart Cumming’s last start winner Latin News.
