Yesterday the David Hayes-trained Growl claimed an upset victory in one of Tasmania?s most anticipated races, the $400 000 Group 3 AAMI Hobart Cup (2200m) at Elwick Racecourse.
A seven-year-old Montjeu gelding, Growl ($12.20), ridden by Brad Rawilla, defeated De Fine Lago ($6.50) by four lengths with roughie Dream Pedlar ($30.20) in third.
It was an absolutely devastating finish for the $4.20 favourite Rathsallagh, the four-year-old O?Reilly mare coming dead last.
