With tomorrow’s Victoria Derby almost sold out, those still wanting tickets to Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup ought to hurry up with only three days left to purchase tickets.
The Victoria Racing Club is expecting a full house for all the major races held in the next few days thanks to the huge burst in sales over the past few days.
As tickets cannot be bought at the track, racing enthusiasts must buy them prior to the day through Ticketmaster.
On a more serious note, Victorian police are warning any racing fans who are expecting to have a massive Saturday binge, there will be zero-tolerance on drunk and unruly patrons.
Both uniformed and plain-clothed Melbourne police will be patrolling the grounds in hope to target anti-social behaviour and underage drinkers.
Due to the warm weather expected at tomorrow’s race, patrons should go easy on their alcohol intake if they hope to last the entire day.
For anyone hoping to drive home after the event, be warned that booze buses will be on full patrol the entire day so stick to public transport.
The VRC has already arranged back-up buses in case a cancellation of some trains does occur.
