Vibrant and exhilarating as the Melbourne Cup carnival always is, this year Australia’s most celebrated day of racing will have a spicier side. Emirates has announced that the theme for their “Birdcage” marquee will be India, a country rich with captivating colours, cosmopolitan culture and opulent celebrations.
Designers have visited Indian locations including Delhi, Udaipur and Jodhpur to draw inspiration in order to transform Flemington racecourse’s renowned social centre, where the celebrities and racing royalty dwell during the day’s festivities, into the most elegant and alluring marquee to date.
Guests will experience a visual vibrancy of stunning saris and ancient artwork, feast on fiery Indian canap’s, and be entertained by traditional bhangra to Bollywood routines.
The Dubai-based airline is the title sponsor of the Emirates Melbourne Cup and Principal Partner of the Melbourne Cup Carnival, which runs from 31st October to the 7th November.
