The final event on a bumper nine race program for CF Orr Stakes Day, this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Geoffrey Bellmaine Stakes (1200m) features a final field of 12 mares.

The highest-rated of the runners is Maher’s Shino King four-year-old Azkadellia who was last seen running a brave third when beaten under a length by Politeness in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.

Before that she won at Cranbourne in non-black type company and then finished second in the Group 3 Teiso Stakes (1600m) on Cox Plate Day beaten just a nose.

She is undefeated first-up with three wins from as many runs fresh, a record she is out to continue on Saturday jumping from barrier nine with Damien Oliver in the saddle.

The next highest rated hopeful carrying the number one saddlecloth is the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Wawail.

Drawn a treat in barrier two with Hong Kong’s Douglas Whyte to ride, the consistent Lonhro four-year-old shoots for her sixth win at her 12th start.

She too boasts an outstanding first-up record of three wins from four starts and was last seen posting back-to-back seconds in Group 3 company during the spring.

A host of last start winning mares with an edge fitness-wise are also in the mix including the Darren Weir-trained Danehill Dancer five-year-old Tuscan Sling who took out Caulfield’s Listed Christmas Stakes (1200m) on Boxing Day.

Weir has also accepted for Al Maher four-year-old Felicienne who won back-to-back races at Moonee Valley (1509m) and Flemington (1700m) respectively in December ahead of her Caulfield debut this weekend.

Also coming off a Caulfield black-type victory is the Pat Carey-trained Shakespearean Lass, the four-year-old daughter of Written Tycoon narrowly holding off Trevinder to salute at $20 in the Listed WJ Adams Stakes (1000m) on February 6.

Jumping from barrier four, the Robbie Griffiths-trained Nadeem six-year-old Nadeem Lass is second-up on the weekend after returning from a lengthy spell to finish third behind Bullpit in a 1000m handicap at Flemington on January 16.

One of the spring’s most consistent runners in the mares’ features, the Luke Oliver-trained Jessy Belle is also first-up on Saturday.

She finished third in the Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m), Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) and Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) consecutively before going down only two and a half lengths when seventh in the Myer Classic.

Other notable hopes are last May’s Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) fourth placegetter Miss Steele and her last start conqueror at Moonee Valley on January 23 Choose for Lee & Shannon Hope.
