Brazilian Pulse Best Backed to Become 2011 Vinery Stud Stakes Winner

Crown Oaks winning filly Brazilian Pulse continues to gain support in the markets for the $400,000 Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill’s Golden Slipper Day this afternoon, punters and racing experts around the country tipping her as the one to beat in the three-year-old fillies’ feature.

Brazilian Pulse

Brazilian Pulse has been the best backed runner for the Vinery Stud Stakes at Rosehill

After opening at around $2.90 in the Vinery Stud Stakes betting, the Michael Moroney-trained Brazilian Pulse is now top of the odds at a firming quote of $2.50 to beat her 10 rivals in Rosehill Race 4 at 1:45pm (AEDST) today.

Earlier this week Luxbet’s chief bookmaker Paul Vincent told Races.com.au that Brazilian Pulse was the Vinery Stud Stakes market mover.

“They (the punters) have only wanted one horse,” Vincent said.

“We put (Brazilian Pulse) up to $2.90 and were claimed immediately…which has seen her price now into $2.50.”

Drawn well in barrier six and due to be ridden by Craig Williams, Captain Rio filly Brazilian Pulse is third-up for the season today.

Resuming after her Crown Oaks success in the spring, Brazilian Pulse ran second to Vinery Stud Stakes rival Do Ra Mi in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes run over the unsuitably short 1400m at Flemington on March 12.

She improved greatly last start winning the Group 3 Keith F Nolan Classic over 1800m here at Rosehill, her first run in Sydney.

“You would expect our filly (Brazilian Pulse) to improve a lot and she has that experience going right handed now so we probably tick all the boxes going in,” said Moroney of the favourite’s chances today.

Moroney is chasing an Oaks double this season with Brazilian Pulse’s main autumn aim following today’s run being the $550,000 Group 1 AJC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick on Saturday April 16.

Money has also recently come in for Peter Moody’s Kewney Stakes winner Do Ra Mi, now the $3.80 second favourite behind Brazilian Pulse in from $4.

Do Ra Mi may have beaten Brazilian Pulse fair and square in the Kewney, but she must now step up from 1400m to 2000m.

Despite the claims of a number of the other runners in the Vinery Stud Stakes field including Do Ra Mi and $7 chance, Greg Eurell’s in-form mare Pinker Pinker looking for her third Group win on the trot, Luxbet’s Paul Vincent is tipping the favourite all the way.

“Dominant win when giving weight to all her rivals albeit in a weaker affair last week (Keith F Nolan), will be improved having gone this way now and at level weights should salute,” Vincent said.
