2010 George Moore Stakes Rescheduled

The $200,000 Group 3 George Moore Stakes (1200m) has been rescheduled for this Saturday, December 11, after the Eagle Farm meeting originally set to run on December 4 had to be abandoned after the first two races due to poor weather and the conditions of the track.

Workers were attempting to move the running rail following a heavy downfall, but in doing so damaged the track forcing the last six races to be abandoned.

Star Toowoomba galloper Temple Of Boom was set to make their much anticipated return to racing on Saturday in the 2010 George Moore Stakes, the four-year-old gelding coming back after a month spell following a successful Melbourne Cup Carnival campaign.

Tony Gollan’s Temple Of Boom took out the Listed Swisse Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on November 4 and was installed as the favourite to win the George Moore Stakes.

Connections have confirmed Temple Of Boom will still line-up in the rescheduled George Moore Stakes this weekend, kicking off their summer preparation that will culminate with a run in the Magic Million Sprint at the Gold Coast on January 15.

However, by Saturday it will be five weeks since Temple Of Boom’s last start, which is not ideal.

Temple Of Boom will also have a jockey change, Gollan booking Larry Cassidy for the ride with original jockey Corey Brown already committed to rides in Sydney on Saturday including Gai Waterhouse’s Rock Kingdom in the Listed Christmas Cup (2400m) at Rosehill.

The updated George Moore Stakes final field and barrier draw will be released later in the week and published here at Races.com.au along with a detailed race and betting preview.
