The Winx-led 2018 Chipping Norton Stakes Day Results will updated all afternoon right here at races.com.au and we are set for another huge afternoon of racing.
There is no doubt that the highlight of this meeting is the return of Winx in the 2018 Chipping Norton Stakes and the mighty mare is a dominant $1.08 favourite in the Chipping Norton Stakes betting market with Ladbrokes.
Winx was given a scare first-up last campaign in the Warwick Stakes, but this is a weaker field and it would go down in racing history as arguably the biggest upset ever if she was beaten in the Chipping Norton Stakes.
A further five Group status events will also take place at Royal Randwick this afternoon including the Sweet Embrace Stakes (Race 4) and Skyline Stakes (Race 3) for two-year-olds targeting the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on March 24.
You can find all the 2018 Chipping Norton Stakes Day odds here all afternoon – don’t miss out on the history-making return of the great mare Winx!
Fui San won a dramatic edition of the Highway Plate at Royal Randwick this afternoon.
Favourite Keymaster was scratched from the Highway Plate before the race and that played into the hands of the other on-pace runners.
Fui San got a lovely run in transit and the race was over when Jason Collett kicked clear at the top of the straight.
Just Shine hit the line strongly in the Tahiti Travel Connection Handicap at Royal Randwick this afternoon.
Claire Cunningham elected to step Just Shine up in class significantly, but her decision paid dividends as the five-year-old wore down his rivals.
The victory was Cunningham’s first Saturday winner as a trainer and the win was made even more special by the fact that Just Shine was ridden by her partner Jason Collett.
Santos won the Skyline Stakes, but is likely to drift in 2018 Golden Slipper betting markets after what was a workmanlike-type performance.
It took Santos plenty of time to respond to hard-riding from Tim Clark and he looked like a sitting shot in the final 150 metres.
Santos kept responding when he was challenged by Spin and Legend Of Condor to record a tough win, but it was not the type of effort you want to see from a Golden Slipper contender three weeks before the race.
Seabrook moved into 2018 Golden Slipper calculations with a strong win in the Sweet Embrace Stakes at Royal Randwick this afternoon.
Seabrook missed out on a run in the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes and trainer Mick Price elected to send her to Melbourne early – a decision which has well and truly paid dividends.
Fiesta started the Sweet Embrace Stakes as favourite and was not disgraced, but lacked the turn-of-foot of Seabrook in the final stages.
Crack Me Up upstaged Care To Think to record an upset win in the 2018 Liverpool City Cup at Royal Randwick this afternoon.
It was a dramatic week for Crack Me Up – he was transferred to the care of Bjorn Baker after trainer Liam Birchley was banned from racing horses in New South Wales – but it clearly didn’t worry the horse.
Care To Think hit the front at the 200 metre mark, but he had done plenty of work early and that told late as he was unable to hold-off Crack Me Up.
Was there ever any doubt!
Winx cruised to a typically effortless victory in the 2018 Chipping Norton Stakes to claim a record-breaking 16th Group 1 win.
She was settled at the tail of the field by Hugh Bowman, but she cruised to the lead under her own steam at the top of the straight and raced away in the final stages.
Shoals held-off a fast-finishing Torvill to win the 2018 Surround Stakes at Royal Randwick this afternoon.
Shoals won the Myer Classic and she beat Alizee home in the Thousand Guineas in the Spring, but punters deserted her after she flopped in the Kevin Hayes Stakes first-up.
That poor run was clearly a one-off and she returned to her best to record a typically tough win.
Dixie Blossoms will head to the 2018 Coolmore Classic after she returned to the races with a win in the Guy Walter Stakes.
It looked as though Dixie Blossoms would be blocked for a run in the straight, but she was eventually able to find clear running and she let down in impressive fashion.
Dixie Blossoms completed a big fortnight for trainer Ron Quinton following the win of Daysee Doom in the Millie Fox Stakes last weekend.
