As a three-year-old last spring the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained daughter of Star Witness enjoyed successive elite levels with wins in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) at Randwick before travelling south to take out the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) in Melbourne.

She has posted just the one win since in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Randwick in mid-February.

Her latest run was on April 8 during ‘The Championships’ where she ran a length back second behind Derryn in the Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m).

The team have Global Glamour a few weeks off trialling ahead of her first four-year-old campaign that is set to kick off in the Group 2 $500,000 Premiere Stakes (1200m).

Options are open for Global Glamour, but could include seeing her secure a slot in the Restricted $10 million The Everest (1200m) at Royal Randwick on October 14.

Waterhouse & Bott’s fellow gun mare English has already confirmed a spot in the inaugural The Everest field.

English has amassed over $2.5 million in prize money over her 17 career starts to date but hasn’t raced since her sixth behind Secret Agenda in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at Adelaide on May 6.

The five-year-old trialled when fourth to Redzel over 1045m at Randwick on August 21 and has a second heat scheduled at the track this Thursday morning.

That will bring English on fitness-wise ahead of her first-up start on September 16 in Group 2 $200,000 The Shorts (1100m).

English is the current $11 third favourite in The Everest 2017 odds at Ladbrokes.com.au behind Chautauqua ($4.60) and the Golden Slipper winning filly She Will Reign ($6).

Global Glamour meanwhile is also nominated for a possible run against the world’s best mare Winx in the Group 1 $3 million Ladbrokes Cox Plate (2040m) at The Valley on October 28.

Winx overcame a missed jump to win first-up in the Warwick Stakes and races again in Sydney on Saturday in the Group 2 $250,000 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) up over a mile.

Winx has won the past two editions of the Cox Plate and will have at least one more Sydney start in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) on September 16 after the Chelmsford before heading south.

The mare will don ear muffs this weekend in the Chelmsford Stakes where she could take on a number of fellow Waller-trained runners including proven stayers Who Shot Thebarman and Antonio Giuseppe.

“It [the ear muffs] just helps block out the background noise,” Waller told Racing NSW this week.

“She’ll still hear Hugh Bowman say ‘it’s time to go’”.
