2017 Tattersall’s Mile Odds & Betting Update

Eleven horses have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s Listed Tattersall’s Mile (1600m) at Doomben Racecourse; offering punters terrific value from a betting perspective and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.

Crack Me Up flew home to win the Group 3 Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) a fortnight ago and remains an outright $2.20 favourite in 2017 Tattersall’s Mile betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Trainer Liam Birchley has had a big opinion of Crack Me Up throughout his entire racing career to date and the talented three-year-old is starting to live up to the hype this time.

Resuming for fourth in the Listed Queensland Day Stakes (1350m) on May 14th, the Mossman gelding failed to fire second-up in the Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1400m), but savaged the line for second behind Religify and amongst open company in the Listed Wayne Wilson Plate (1600m) on June 10th.

Michael Cahill will take the ride on Crack Me Up, who may require some early pace to cross the field from barrier 11.

Sheiswhatsheis is yet to herald much interest in 2017 Tattersall’s Mile betting markets, but remains the sole occupant of the second line at a $2.90 quote.

Third in the Toowoomba Cup (2000m) on April 8th, the Bernardini mare ran sixth in the Listed Tails Stakes (1600m) before fading late to finish fourth in the Tattersall’s Club Members’ Handicap (1600m).

Responding well to a freshen-up, Sheiswhatsheis returned to racing for a dominant six length win in the Brett Whalley & Co Handicap (1640m) on July 8th.

Sheiswhatsheis is drawn ideally in barrier 4 and will be partnered by in-form hoop Alannah Fancourt in the Tattersall’s Mile.

Interestingly, no other runner is currently available at Tattersall’s Mile odds of less-than $10 and it is Colour Charge and Cruising Speed that are currently tied on the third line.

Colour Charge carries winning form into the Tattersall’s Mile following a dominant win in the Rockhampton Cup (1600m) on June 24th, but has been charged with overcoming a 58kg topweight and faces a notable step up in class.

Cruising Speed went amiss last time out, but is up to the class of this race and should find a handy position in transit from the rails draw.

Resuming for second in a Gold Coast 1200m race on June 7th, the Savabeel mare returned to winning form in a Class 6 race at Doomben on June 24th, in what was her only other start prior to her last-start eighth.
