Nominations for the first Group 1 edition of The All-Star Mile 2025 on March 8 are now out with Mr Brightside heading all-in betting on the $2.5 million Flemington feature this season.

Fifty-three of the county’s leading weight-for-age gallopers make up the early entries for the Group 1 All-Star Mile (1600m) this year including the 2023 champion Mr Brightside.
The Team Hayes’ son of Bullbars is a $16.5 million earner thanks to his prowess as a middle-distance track star and sits top of futures All-Star Mile betting at $4 through Ladbrokes.com.au to become the event’s first two-time champion.
The seven-year-old kicked off his autumn with a second as the beaten favourite fresh in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes and is expected to improve getting up to a mile later this prep.
Ben, Will & JD Hayes have four The All-Star Mile nominees this season with Mr Brightside joined in the list by stablemates Marble Arch, Ndola, and the ultra-consistent Rise At Dawn.
Second elect in the updated markets following Mr B closely at a current quote of $4.50 is the favourite’s last start conqueror in the CF Orr, Another Wil.
The Ciaron Maher trained son of Street Boss made an immediate impact first-up with a narrow but gutsy win in the Orr to break his Group 1 maiden putting himself right in the frame for the autumn majors.
Maher won the race last year with his ace mare Pride Of Jenni denying Mr Brightside back-to-back wins.
Along with Another Wil the master trainer has also nominated his Group 1 Northerly Stakes winner over in WA Light Infantry Man, New Energy, and the defending All-Star Mile winner Pride Of Jenni.
Seven-year-old mare Pride Of Jenni has been installed at All-Star Mile odds of $15 after her less-than-ideal end to the spring when finishing dead last (11th) behind Mr Brightside in Flemington’s Group 1 Champions Mile (1600m).
Leading horseman Chris Waller will chase his first All-Star Mile success this season nominating seven from his stables led by the reigning Cox Plate hero Via Sistina who is at a current quote of $6.
Waller’s other best chances according to the markets include fellow Group 1 winning mares Atishu ($8) and Fangirl ($8).
The bookies are also taking no early chances with the Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman trained I Wish I Win ($11) who is out to win back the love of the punters after his failed The Everest bid last start.
