The famous Flemington Race 7 jumps at 3:00pm (AEDT) on the first Tuesday of November each spring and there are currently 23 stayers in the mix for this year’s Group 1 $7.75 million Lexus Melbourne Cup (3200m).

In a typically open Melbourne Cup betting market at [ladborkes] there is just one horse under $10 for the win with James Ferguson’s British galloper Deauville Legend ($3.80) tipped to further frank the top international form at this year’s Flemington Carnival.

The only perceived threat looking at the Melbourne Cup odds is the early market mover Realm Of Flowers ($10) right down the weights with just 50kg.

Kerrin McEvoy-Ridden Horse: McEvoy has ridden three past Melbourne Cup winners with Cross Counter (2018), Almandin (2016) and Brew (2000). He is now after a record-equalling fourth in 2022 aboard the favourite Deauville Legend.

The Runner in Barrier 5: History shows barrier five has produced more Melbourne Cup winners than any other with eight previous champions jumping from the gate, most recently Fiorente (2013), since barriers were introduced. This year barrier five belongs to the early market mover, Sam & Anthony Freedman’s well-backed mare Realm Of Flowers.
