The forecast in Melbourne today is for scattered showers across the afternoon meaning there is unlikely to be any upgrade to the current Soft (7) Flemington track rating.

Racing in Melbourne gets underway at 12:05pm (AEST) and the nine-race program continues through until the last at 5:05pm (AEST).

The key event on the card is scheduled to run as Flemington Race 6 at 3:15pm (AEST) with the Group 3 $160,000 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) down the straight for the Group 1 spring-bound sprinters.

The 2020 Aurie’s Star Handicap field is down to eight runners with three official scratchings including the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Ramornie Handicap winner Signore Fox (11) who has also been withdrawn from Rosehill’s Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) due to a Heavy (9) track in Sydney today.

Updated Aurie’s Star Handicap betting at Ladbrokes.com.au is a wide-open affair with every runner in the field at $10 or under to win including the narrow $4 favourite Great Again.

The reigning Aurie’s Star Handicap winner So Si Bon meanwhile may be lumping the 60kg topweight in his title defence, but he’s the big market mover backed right in from $14 to $6.50 to go back-to-back in the Group 3.
