The Sunshine Coast Turf Club is host to the latest Queensland Winter Racing Carnival meeting today, Saturday July 11, with Winx Guineas Day 2020 taking place at Caloundra and below we take a look at the latest scratchings and track report.

It is shaping up as a day for the mudlarks on the Sunny Coast with plenty of recent rainfall and a partly cloudy day on the forecast seeing a Heavy (9) Caloundra track rating force 40 official scratchings.

Saturday racing at the Sunshine Coast gets underway at 12:18pm (AEST) and the nine-race card continues through until the last at 5:25pm (AEST) this afternoon.

The meeting’s feature race takes place as Race 7 at 4:03pm (AEST) with the newly renamed Group 3 $125,000 Winx Guineas (1600m).

Formerly the Sunshine Coast Guineas, the event now honours the famous 2015 winner Winx who would go on to win 33 straight races including an historic four Cox Plate victories.

This season’s Winx Guineas field is down to nine with five early scratchings from the line-up, updated markets at Ladbrokes.com.au led by the Stuart Kendrick-trained Star Of Michelin ($2.80).

Race 8 is the other key event on the program with the middle-distance sprinters doing battle in the Listed $85,000 Glasshouse Handicap (1400m).

After four scratchings there are eight remaining runners in the 2020 Glasshouse Handicap field with odds firming on the Mark Currie-trained Soxagon ($2 @ Ladbrokes.com.au to make it four wins from his past five starts.
