2017 PB Lawrence Stakes Day Results: Hartnell Wins the Feature

2017 PB Lawrence Stakes Day has drawn some of the Spring Carnival’s most exciting prospects to Caulfield Racecourse this afternoon.

We will be covering the 2017 PB Lawrence Stakes Day results as they happen this afternoon and we are set for an exciting day of racing in Melbourne.

All the action on 2017 PB Lawrence Stakes Day will get underway with the running of the Pegasus Leisure Group Plate (1600m) at 12:20pm, while the feature race will be run and won at 4:00pm.

Race 1 (12:20pm) Pegasus Leisure Group Plate Results

Hell Or Highwater has produced a smart kick in the final straight to win Race 1 on 2017 PB Lawrence Stakes Day.

Apprentice hoop Chris Caserta allowed Hell Or Highwater to stride forward from the barriers and took an ideal position in transit on the heels of early leader Miss It And A Bit.

Locking in a fierce sprint battle with Sea The Sparkle in the final straight, the More Than Ready mare briefly dropped off the pace, but kicked well to hit the line half a length in the clear; Dulverton flying home to finish third.

Race 2 (12:55pm) Legacy Badge Appeal Handicap Results

Sullivan Bay has completed a perfectly-timed run to win the second race on 2017 PB Lawrence Stakes Day.

Jockey Corey Parish took a positive position in transit on the heels of early leader Petite’s Reward and allowed the horse plenty of time to balance in the final straight before asking for an extra effort.

Hitting the lead with 200m to travel, the horse extended to the line to win the race by a length from Lyuba; Petite’s Reward boxing on to finish third.

Race 3 (1:30pm) Beveridge Williams Plate Results

Quilista has taken advantage of a position on pace to storm away from his rivals and win Race 3 on PB Lawrence Stakes Day.

Jumping from the gates well, jockey Damien Lane allowed Quilista to stride forward and settle close to the early pace.

Immediately responding when asked for an extra effort, the Scandal Keeper mare kicked clear of her rivals and maintained to the line, comfortably beating Theanswermyfriend.

Race 4 (2:05pm) Ramlegh Springs On Clyde Handicap Results

Rhythm To Spare has justified his race favouritism with an impressive turn of foot to take out Race 4 at Caulfield this afternoon.

Rhythm To Spare was settled towards the tail of the classy field of milers this afternoon and enjoyed a carefree run in transit as Foundry set the early tempo.

Mustering a big turn of foot when asked for an extra effort, the Pins gelding was simply too good for his rivals and posted another classy win.

Race 5 (2:40pm) Group 3 Quezette Stakes Results

Crown Witness has produced undoubtedly the best performance of her short career to date; beating Catchy in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes this afternoon.

Punters rallied around the Stuart Webb-trained filly in the hours leading up to jump and were repaid for their faith when she completed a perfectly-timed sprint to hold on and win the Quezette Stakes by a short nose.

Ploverset found several nice gaps between runners early in the final straight and maintained a position on the rail to finish third.

Race 6 (3:20pm) Group 3 Vain Stakes Results

Three-year-old Jukebox has stamped himself as a colt to follow through spring after posting an impressive win in the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1200m) this afternoon.

Craig Williams settled Jukebox within the Vain Stakes field and found a gap between runners with 300m; steering the colt to the fore of the field and finishing off the race in style.

Plutocracy battled away well to finish second, while Poseidon’s Pool ran on to finish third.

Race 7 (4:00pm) Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes Results

Godolphin runner Hartnell has posted a dominant win in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield this afternoon.

Hartnell attracted plenty of attention in PB Lawrence Stakes betting markets leading up to jump this afternoon and justified the trend with an easy win over brave veteran Charmed Harmony; Black Heart Bart running on for third.

He’s Our Rokkii attacked the line extremely well to finish fourth and will only improve in his second-up start.

Race 8 (4:40pm) Listed Regal Roller Stakes Results

Vega Magic has stamped himself as a legitimate contender for The Everest with a smart win in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes this afternoon.

The Lope De Vega gelding took a position within the field of sprinters this afternoon, but was offered a clear line upon arriving at the final straight and made it count; striding clear and producing a strong kick to beat a fast-finishing Brave Smash.

Santa Ana Lane has produced a number of smart performances this year and maintained well to the line this afternoon to finish third in the Regal Roller Stakes.

Here To There has completed an impressive day for Ciaron Maher at Caulfield this afternoon; running on well to win the final race on 2017 PB Lawrence Stakes Day.

Here To There was settled at the tail of the field in the 1400m sprint and settled into an ideal rhythm as Majestic Duke and Ozi Choice set the early pace.

Holding a position on the rails rounding onto the final straight, the Good Journey gelding took the entire length of the course to find the fore, but timed his sprint to perfection.
