Firm Track Ideal for Savanna Amour in Regal Roller Stakes
Connections are hoping that the Caulfield track remains in the ‘Good’ rating ahead of classy mare Savanna Amour’s likely second-up appearance in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) on Saturday afternoon.

Savanna Amour was a standout performer for Gold Coast trainer John Meagher through the recent Melbourne Autumn Carnival; running third in the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) before taking out the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) most notably.
Having resumed in the early stages of the Queensland winter for a hit-and-run win in the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m), the daughter of Love Conquers All struggled on the soft-going in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) first-up this time and finished seventh.
Managing owner Grant Morgan told AAP that Savanna Amour is a different horse on a firm track and is hopeful that she will line up on a good course when she steps out in the Regal Roller Stakes this weekend.
“Putting it simply she floundered. She is much better than that and she deserves another chance,” Morgan said.
“The weather forecast is a bit mixed but hopefully she will get a track to suit.
“She has been good for us and I hope she can show her true ability on Saturday.”
Savanna Amour debuted to racing for a credible third in a Sunshine Coast 1000m sprint in June last year and has subsequently posted a commendable four race wins and two minors, through only ten competitive appearances.
Returned to the paddock after posting a maiden race win in only her third career start, Savanna Amour resumed in November for a dominant win in a Doomben sprint, before making a credible transition to black type company when finishing mid-field in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) on December 10th.
Winner of a Deagon barrier trial in mid-January, the mare out of Savanna La Mar placed seventh in the Inglis Dash (1100m) at Flemington on January 28th, in what was her only other start prior to the Kevin Hayes Stakes.
