Fifteen two-year-olds are set to step out for the Listed Oaklands Plate (1400m) at Morphettville Racecourse on Saturday afternoon and it is a particularly open race from a betting perspective.

Interstate raider Terry is currently tied on the top line of 2017 Oaklands Plate betting with Kardashing at Ladbrokes.com.au, however both runners still represent terrific value at generous $6 quotes.
Will Terry justify favouritism and win the Oaklands Plate, will Kardashing return to winning form in the race, or will one of their talented rivals post an upset?

Terry ($6)
Terry has only made one competitive appearance at the races so far, but has shown plenty of ability and potential and will be tough to beat in the Oaklands Plate. Showing trainer David Brideoake plenty in the lead-up to his competitive debut, the Trusting colt took up the running in the Racing.com Maiden Plate (1200m) at Pakenham on June 25th and was too good for his opposition; extending to the line to win the race by more than a length. The horse may need to show some early speed from barrier 10, but appears to have to class to win.

Heir To The Throne ($10)
Heir To The Throne is another horse who has only made one career start so far, but showed ability beyond his years on debut and should take wholesale improvement into this race. Heir To The Throne was checked early in running in the Murphy’s Turf & Landscaping Handicap (1109m) on July 10th and after being blocked by a wall of horses, found clear running and attacked the line well to finish fourth. Drawn ideally in barrier 3, Heir To The Throne is arguably over the odds at his current quote.

Lady of Crebilly ($21)
Classy local Lady Of Crebilly is another horse that has shown ability in her only career start to date and is over the odds at her current quote. The Choisir filly trialled well ahead of her debut run and enjoyed the heavy going in the late stages of her 1206m race at Gawler on July 8th; hitting the line well for second. Trained by leading South Australian trainer Phillip Stokes and ridden by leading jockey Dom Tourneur, Lady Of Crebilly is not without a chance of finishing in the first three.
