A run in the Group 2 $250,000 Mitavite BRC Sires’ Produce (1400m) at Eagle Farm on May 27 could be in the pipeline for today’s Doomben winner Pardoe.
The Tony Sears trainer Pardoe was able to make it a hat trick of wins when he handled the heavy conditions the best to come from behind to win the Listed $100,000 Queensland Electrical Oxlade Stakes (1200m).
Winning jockey Michael Cahill settled Pardoe ($7.50) back in the pack from barrier nine in the thirteen horse field and brought him with a well-timed run in the straight to grab the Chris Munce trained Skate To Paris ($7) close to the line.
Sears was impressed with the way Pardoe finished off the race at the end of the 1200m and has no doubt that the Red Dazzler colt will run out a strong 1600m.
Sears also said that the owners had rejected a nice offer him during the week and is happy that the tjhey decided to keep him and run him today.
“We had a very good offer for him during the week and we decided not to sell him,” Sears said.
“They are all for sale, but I said for the owner in Singapore that I think he is a pretty good horse when he gets to a mile and that we should run him Saturday.”
“If they still want him, they can come back and have another look at him.
“I have him nominated (for the JJ Atkins) and I’ve always thought that he was a miler.
“We will just see how he goes and progresses, but that was very good.
“It is very exciting.”
Another good effort by Pardoe in the Sires Produce will see him line up in the Group 1 $600,000 BMW Australia J.J. Atkins (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 10.
