A full field of milers will face off in the 2017 Scone Cup on Friday including the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Hawkesbury Cup winner Fabrizio.

Set to run as Scone Race 7 at 3:57pm (AEST) on Friday afternoon, this season’s $200,000 Listed Darley Scone Cup (1600m) has attracted the capacity 16 runners plus four emergencies.

Heading the Scone Cup field and weights on 59kg is Fabrizio, drawn well in barrier four that will become gate three with emergencies out.

Jason Collett retains the ride on the High Chaparral five-year-old who produced a sustained run on April 29 for his all-the-way win in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Cup (1600m) over the same distance last time out.

Fabrizio is now four-from-seven over the mile, but must handle a rise from 56.5kg to 59kg this week to take out the Cups double.

Also drawn well in barrier three and carrying the equal 59kg top weight is the Fred Cowell-trained Mighty Lucky who is out to atone for a seventh in the Hawkesbury Cup when beaten under three lengths under the same kilos as this Friday.

Kerrin McEvoy gets another chance on the Hawkesbury Cup runner-up Moher, Darren Beadman’s progressive Lonhro four-year-old engaged in the rematch.

Last time out Moher carted 53kg and only goes up a kilo to 54kg for the Scone Cup where he is drawn in gate nine.

Beadman is also represented in the race on Friday by Duca Valentinois who ran 10th in the Hawkesbury Cup last time out.

Gary Portelli has also accepted for the Hawkesbury Cup third placegetter Testashadow, who has suffered an early blow for the Scone Cup drawing out wide in barrier 17 (possibly into 14).

Testashadow has placed third in three of his four latest starts, with the only blemish on his recent record being his 18th to It’s Somewhat when outclassed in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) on April 1.

Portelli will use the Scone Cup to determine whether or not Testashadow presses onto a Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival bid after this weekend.

The reigning Scone Cup winner Pajaro is back for another shot at the title again in 2017 representing Peter & Paul Snowden.

The Align gelding saluted in the race 12 months ago from barrier 16 of 16 under 54kg in an upset after his 14th in the Hawkesbury Cup.

This time in the now six-year-old carries 55.5kg from gate eight and comes off an improved eighth in the Hawkesbury Cup results.

Other notable Scone Cup hopes include the Jason Attard-trained Oratorio mare Kellyville Flyer, Team Hawkes’ rails-drawn lightweight God’s In Him and Royal Tudor last seen running fourth to Redzel in the Group 3 Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 15.
