The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Hawkesbury Cup winner Fabrizio is out to continue his success this campaign heading the Scone Cup 2017 nominations and weights for Friday’s feature race.

A bumper 24 stayers are nominated for this year’s $200,000 Listed Scone Cup (1600m) with handicaps on the early entries topped by Fabrizio and the Fred Cowell-trained Mighty Lucky on 59kg.
High Chaparral five-year-old Fabrizio was last seen posting a one length win in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Cup (1600m) in his first-up run of 2017.
There the gelding carted 56.5kg to victory and Friday presents a weight challenge as Fabrizio looks to complete the cups double and post his fifth mile win from eight starts over the distance.
Originally the Tulloch Lodge stable were considering a trip to Brisbane on Saturday with Fabrizio in the Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap (2000m) at Doomben, but decided to keep him at a mile in the Scone Cup.
“We were thinking of sending Fabrizio to Doomben for the Chairman’s Handicap but the Scone Cup just looks a beautiful race for him,” Bott told The Daily Telegraph.
Waterhouse & Bott have also nominated for Supply And Demand, the in-form Sebring four-year-old getting in on the 53kg lightweight should he make the capacity 16 starter Scone Cup field.
“Fabrizio and Supply And Demand will both go to the Scone Cup while our Wagga Gold Cup winner Stampede is on a float to Brisbane for the Chairman’s on Saturday,” Bott added.
The other best out of the Hawkesbury Cup results from April 29 are runner-up Moher and third placed Testashadow, both also nominated for a Scone Cup run this week.
Moher is prepared by Darren Beadman, the improving Lonhro four-year-old third-up this weekend and set to peak going up just the one kilo to 54kg in the Scone Cup weights.
Testashadow is allocated 57kg for his rematch with Moher and Fabrizio, the Gary Portelli-trained gelding boasting good ability over the mile.
Peter & Paul Snowden won the race 12 months ago with Align chestnut Pajaro who is nominated to defend his Scone Cup and go back-to-back in the mile feature for the first time since Brave Prince (2000-01).
Pajaro improved on a Hawkesbury Cup 14th for his Scone Cup win last year and comes off an eighth in the same lead-up this season, beaten only three and a half lengths by Fabrizio last time out.
The official Scone Cup 2017 field and barriers are set for release on Wednesday morning followed by updated odds on the Scone Cup Carnival headliner at Ladbrokes.com.au.
